The FTO gene

In a genome wide association study, the FTO gene, known as the fat mass and obesity gene, was shown to have biggest influence on weight gain. Those with certain versions are associated with obesity due to poor satiety and preference for calorically dense foods; however, research shows that these individuals have improved weight loss with;
